Following the “modular” Blue Moon AT philosophy, the PreAmp N.1 is available, and modular, in 3 Step, starting from a basic up to the maximum level. In 3 configurations, the “Stage Line”, remains unchanged.

What changes are only the power supply, which increase the sound performance, without the need to replace the entire device.

This configuration includes the “Stage Line” + “Power Supply A1”.
The basic configuration, with traditional power supplies, it provides remarkable sonic performance

“Second Step”

The next step includes the “Stage Line” + “Power Supply A2”.
The “Power Supply A2” is a power supply with high performance custom transformer , built on specific Blue Moon AT, and polypropylene filtering capacitors.

This configuration ensures a neutral and natural sound, reachable only using the highest quality materials.

“Third Step”

The third level includes, “Stage Line” + 2 “Power Supply A2”.

The maximum configuration is reached with the insertion of a second “Power Supply A2”.
In this context, the two channels are fed separately, and are also “galvanically separated”, both on the power supplies, both on the line section.
The total separation between the two channels, drastically reduces electromagnetic contamination, which inevitably create the audio signal transition, preamp stages, and the connecting cables (internal and external).

 

 

 

All “boxes” are copper made, material that guarantees an excellent electromagnetic isolation, and promotes a “neutral and natural sound”.

The rear panels, where the connections are housed, is bakelite, a material that provides maximum isolation to frame without the electrification phenomenon, as in plastic materials case

Design philosophy and description

 

Neutrality is the most important characteristic that a preamplifiers, a strategic cores of HiFi systems, must have.

PreAmp n. 1 presents this primary feature, thanks to the total absence of electrolytic capacitors on the ‘Electrolytic Capacitor Less’ power as well as of any capacitor along  the signal path. This has determined an important step forward in sound naturality.

‘Inductive-capacitative’ power supply has provided the insulation of the preamplifier from the contamination of the interferences coming from the electrical system.

So, it refused to allow the noise produced by electromagnetic fields of the transformer soiling the audio signal of the system components.

Power supply and line cabling have been made with special care, using top level cables with individual shielding. Both the polypropylene capacitors of the power supply and those of the filtering on the box of the line are individually screened as well, so that the audio signal is defended from any contamination.

In conclusion, two levels of  power supply stabilization have been used. The first one is on the ‘Power Supplies’ box, and the second one is placed on the line card to insulate the two channels from possible mutual interferences, creating a perfect ‘dual mono’.

Bakelite has been used for the rear panel: it is a material at a very high electrical insulation, big damping and extreme neutrality helping to obtain the best sound results.

All these choices have been made to reach the typical sound naturality of ‘live’ events.
